Sound Garden is a long-running series of ambient events organized by Chris SSG and David Decembre, which explores ambient, chill out and downtempo sounds. Previous shows have included a wide range of international and local artists, with each edition an opportunity to explore new sounds. In 2021, we will be marking 10 years of Sound Garden events, and this Dommune show will feature extended sets by the two residents. Tune in, tune out.

●Chris SSG（MNML SSGS）

Chris SSGは、現在は機能していないMNML SSGSブログの共同創設者として知られており、電子音楽に関する批評的なメディアの主導者である。ブログ終了後、彼は自らのDJとパーティーのオーガナイズに力を注ぎ、その過程で日本のエレクトロニックミュージックコミュニティにおける不可欠な存在となった。彼はDJとして、あまり一般的ではないアプローチを取り、主にアンビエントミュージックと実験音楽に焦点を当てている。彼のプレイは、テクノセットと同様の構造とダイナミズムを持ち、脳と心へ作用する、アンビエントを軸とした独自のアプローチを開発し続けている。Chris SSGは、東アジア全域でのショー、そしてヨーロッパと北アメリカのツアーとともに、東京のパーティーとして定期的な活動を行なってきた。彼はこれまで、Berlin Atonal, Nachtdigital, Organik, Sustain Release and rural などの主要なフェスティバルや、Berghain’s Silvester Klubnacht で、アンビエントに関する独自の展開をアプローチし続けている。

Chris SSG is best known as the co-founder of the now defunct MNML SSGS blog, recognized as a leading source of critical insight on electronic music. Following the end of the blog, he has devoted his energies to DJing and organising parties, and in the process has become an integral part of Japan’s electronic music community. As a DJ, Chris SSG has taken a less common approach, focusing primarily on ambient and experimental music. He has developed a distinctive approach to ambient that has a similar structure and dynamic to a techno set, only aimed for the head and heart. Chris SSG features regularly at parties in Tokyo, along with shows across East Asia, and tours of Europe and North America. He has presented his distinctive take on ambient at major festivals including Berlin Atonal, Nachtdigital, Organik, Sustain Release and Rural, as well as at Berghain’s Silvester Klubnacht.
