『Movements in an Empty Department Store』は、Priebe自身が2020年に設立したレーベルStólarからリリースされた。自らのレーベルを立ち上げることは、妥協や制約から解放された、ひとつのオルタナティヴな宇宙を創造することを意味していた。それは彼にとって、単なる選択ではなく、アーティストとしての必然でもあった。Stólarはディープハウスとその周辺領域に焦点を当て、Priebe自身が敬意を抱くアーティストたちを紹介し、作品への参加を招いている。友人たちによる、そして友人たちのためのリミックスも、レーベルのキュレーションにおいて重要な役割を果たしている。近年ではMolly、Lawrence、Ben Kaczorらの作品をリリースしている。

The best way to describe Philipp Priebe’s music might be as dancefloor-prose.
The german producer and DJ musically recites raw, sensitive stories that tempt you to fall in love on the dancefloor or at least wrap you in a blanket of melancholy. Philipp’s live sets combine honest and emotive deep house with the dusty grinds of dub techno. Straight- to-the heart samples add to the distinct moods, all carved out through a deeply personal, almost therapeutic process. While sentimental, an irrefutable drive unfolds accompanied a bouncy, activating rhythm. Fascinated by how bands like Sigur Rós create emotive atmospheres and musically reflect internal processes, Priebe found his own way to craft club-appropriate compositions that convey storytelling and emotional processing. His productions revolve around specific narratives, often drawn from real-life situations or those childhood musings we can all relate to.
Priebe is - by nature- an “Album-Artist”, one who builds an ark traversing multiple moods, just like in his live sets. His 2014 Album “The Being of the Beautiful” (IL Y A Records) explores the concept of beauty. The experience and sensation of being trapped in a department store are captured in “Movements in an Empty Department Store”.
“Until The End” (2024) released on Paradijs Boogie, a sub-label of German outlet Freund der Familie, is the third album within 3 years. Closer to imaginative and ambient - infused house, this long player also features collaborations with the like-minded artists Ben Kaczor and Soela. “Movements…” was released on Stólar, his 2020-founded imprint. Bringing his own label to life meant creating a whole alternative universe without compromises and confinements, a necessity for the artist. Stólar focuses on Deep House and adjacent styles, presenting artists that Priebe appreciates and invites to contribute. Remixes, by and for friends, play a substantial role in the curation. In recent times he featured Molly, Lawrence and Ben Kaczor on the label.
In Priebe’s work, audible and visual elements intertwine, both figuratively and evocatively. A variety of images and sentiments are expressed through the narratives he composes, engaging the audience much like a piece of prose—only on the dance floor.
